Sounds rather … super-heroish, right?!? I’m nowhere near a superhero. I’m really just “Jane,” a mama to four and wife to one – homeschooling, living, loving, and writing.
As great as life is, it sure does throw us a lot of curveballs, doesn’t it? I never expected to be homeschooling, especially after successfully parenting two children all the way through public school. Those two are grown now, one being a college graduate and the other more than halfway there. Public school obviously “works.” Why mess with a good thing? To be honest, I have about a quadrillion reasons why we made the change for our youngest two, and those reasons will trickle out throughout this blog. I’m sure you’ll find one that resonates with you and before you know it we’ll be best friends!
Life is messy sometimes.
It presents us with plenty of opportunities to let fear hold us back, trip us up, paralyze and confuse us. But I’m here to encourage you to recognize when fear is the problem and allow God to be the answer. For He did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7) We can use the spirit He did give us to find the courage we need to step up and do what He has given us to do. For me, that means homeschooling, in addition to some other nerve-wracking opportunities. What He gives you might be different, but He gave none of us a spirit of fear. Put on your own cape, step out, and be brave!
On this homeschooling blog, my job is to reveal that you have the freedom to homeschool and to do it in a way that works for your family, without the fear that you’ll ruin your kids.
Homeschooling is not ‘One Size Fits All.’
You’ll get glimpses of my own family and how we live, and we’ll explore how others do it as well, and what their lives look like. Finally, we’ll take a look at things that work, and some that don’t.
I want you to look at the realities in your life rather than clinging to abstract ideas about how you wish things would be. I’m a big believer in the idea that if you don’t like how things are going, change them! It often takes courage to do this, and sometimes it feels like we need permission from someone else. Courageous Jane is here to give you that permission (not that you really need it!).
I invite you to subscribe to this blog so you can get an email alert letting you know when something new has been posted. Because I’m a busy mama, it won’t be everyday so don’t worry about me filling up your inbox. And I promise not to spam you!
